Rabat – Young football star Lamine Yamal was targeted in an attempted robbery just hours after Spain beat France 2-0 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to Spanish media.
The security guard reportedly spotted two individuals on the security cameras perched on the wall of Yamal’s house, which is well known in Spain. A house that once belonged to Gerard Piqué and Shakira.
The €11 million (MAD 117,15 million) property is located 20 minutes from downtown Barcelona. Covering 3,800 square meters over five levels, it features two private swimming pools, a football field, a paddle court, a gym, and a recording studio.
The thieves were caught by the security guards and managed to escape before the footballer’s private security could call the police.
The Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) has taken over the investigation, as authorities believe there have been at least two other robberies in the same luxury area of Esplugues.
Some criminal groups reportedly travel across Europe to target the houses of elite footballers to steal high-value jewellery and watches, as in the case of Lamine Yamal, who has shown off his jewellery and luxury home on social networks.
Spain defeated France in the semifinal encounter of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and is now preparing for the World Cup final against either England or Argentina.
