Casablanca – Barcelona are closely monitoring the future of Morocco international Abde Ezzalzouli, with Aston Villa and Newcastle United reportedly interested in signing the real Betis winger during the current transfer window.
According to spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, the two premier League clubs are among the sides tracking Abde after his impressive performances for Betis last season.
The report adds that Barcelona would benefit financially from any transfer, having retained 20% of the player’s future sale when he joined Betis in 2023.
Betis, however, are reportedly unwilling to negotiate below the player’s €60 million release clause, with the club determined to keep hold of one of its standout performers unless their valuation is met.
Aston Villa are believed to have significant financial resources following the reported sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea, while Newcastle have also strengthened their budget after the departures of Sandro Tonali and Anthony Gordon.
If either club activates Abde’s release clause, Barcelona would reportedly receive around €12 million through the sell-on clause included in the original deal.
Combined with the €7.5 million transfer fee Betis paid for the winger, Barcelona’s total earnings from Abde could rise to nearly €20 million.
The Catalan club initially retained 50% of the player’s economic rights before later reducing that share as part of negotiations involving Vitor Roque’s move to Palmeiras.
Abde has recently returned to Betis for preseason preparations, but speculation over his future continues to intensify.
The 24-year-old enjoyed his most productive campaign last season, scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists across all competitions, establishing himself as one of Betis’ key attacking players.
While no formal offer has yet been reported, Mundo Deportivo notes that Barcelona are keeping a close eye on developments. Should the transfer take place, it will potentially provide the Catalan club with additional funds as it continues its own activity in the summer transfer market.
