The Croatian midfielder has officially extended his contract with AC Milan, committing himself to the San Siro until summer 2027.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Luka Modric is finalizing the last legal formalities to officially remain at AC Milan. Although he has been a free agent since June 30, following the expiration of his previous contract, Modric remains loyal to Milan. The signing ceremony is expected to take place this week, marking another important step in his Serie A journey.
AC Milan maintained his salary at €3.5 million per season. In addition to his base salary, the new contract includes performance bonuses, a financially advantageous structure for both the player and the club.
New manager Ruben Amorim reportedly played a key role in these negotiations. The Portuguese coach sees the veteran midfielder as a crucial element of his new team’s style of play and their ability to control the tempo of matches.
Amorim believes that for a team in reconstruction, the experience and character of a player like Modric, a multiple Champions League winner, are invaluable. He is counting on the 40-year-old midfielder to guide and pass on his tactical vision to the young talents.
The presence of the Croatian gives the coaching staff the confidence needed to aim for a return to European competitions, while also competing for domestic silverware next season.
