Casablanca – It’s the end of an era at San Siro. After several impressive seasons in the Rossoneri jersey, Algerian international Ismaël Bennacer will terminate his contract with AC Milan after reaching a verbal agreement with Qatari club Al-Gharafa.
The latest developments indicate that the midfielder will not continue with the Rossoneri, as negotiations are progressing towards a mutual termination of his contract. This would allow him to join his new club as a free agent, without Al-Gharafa having to pay a transfer fee.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, all parties have reached a verbal agreement over the termination of the player’s contract, which means that the remaining step is to complete the legal procedures and sign the official documents before the deal is formally announced.
Bennacer’s move to Al-Gharafa represents a new chapter in his professional career after several years with AC Milan, where he established himself as one of the club’s standout midfielders and played a key role in their Serie A title triumph, in addition to featuring in domestic and continental competitions.
Bennacer was close to joining Al-Shamal, the other Qatari team where his national teammate Baghdad Bounedjah plays, before the transfer fell through. Last season, Bennacer played for Dinamo Zagreb (Croatian First Division), making 19 appearances in all competitions, scoring one goal and providing two assists.
However, Bennacer’s progress has been disrupted in recent years by recurring injuries, which have limited his playing time and affected his performance.
