Casablanca – Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology issued an orange weather alert warning of a heatwave and hot weather across several provinces from Wednesday through Saturday.
The most intense heat is forecast from Wednesday to Friday in Oued Ed-Dahab, Boujdour, Assa-Zag, Es-Semara, Taroudant, Tata, Zagora, Errachidia and Aousserd, where temperatures are expected to range between 45C and 47C.
From Wednesday to Saturday, Fquih Ben Salah, El Kelaa des Sraghna and Beni Mellal are expected to record temperatures between 42C and 45C.
The same temperature range is forecast from Thursday to Saturday in Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Marrakech, Rehamna, Youssoufia, Khenifra, Taounate, Ouezzane, Meknes, Fez, Moulay Yacoub, Sidi Kacem, Khouribga, Settat and Chichaoua.
The weather service also expects hot conditions on Thursday and Friday in Laâyoune, Tarfaya, Guelmim and Tan-Tan, with temperatures ranging from 42C to 45C. During the same period, Essaouira and Sidi Ifni are forecast to see temperatures between 39C and 42C.
On Friday and Saturday, temperatures between 40C and 45C are expected in Sidi Slimane, Benslimane, Khemisset, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Guercif and Taza.
The meteorological bulletin classified the alert at the orange vigilance level.
