Rabat – Italian club Venezia announced this Saturday the signing of Moroccan defender Radouane Halhal from Belgian side Mechelen on a contract running until 2030.
Halhal has expressed his excitement about joining the Serie A club, saying the sporting vision presented by sporting director Filippo Antonelli convinced him to make the transfer.
“The project introduced to me by Antonelli immediately won me over,” the club’s official website quoted Halhal as saying. “Joining Venezia is a great opportunity, and I accepted it with great enthusiasm.”
The 22-year-old also described his playing style as being a match for the Italian club’s identity, highlighting his determination and ability to contribute in possession.
“I see myself as a strong and determined defender,” he said. “I enjoy building attacks from the back, carrying the ball forward when space allows, and creating the best possible conditions for my teammates to threaten the opposition.”
In addition, he noted Venezia fans’ passion and pledged to contribute to making them proud of their team and city. “I have also heard a lot about the passion of the fans and what this club means to the city,” said the Moroccan player. “I can’t wait to step onto the pitch and begin this new chapter together with them.”
Halhal began his football development at the Montpellier academy in France before joining Atlético Madrid during the 2023–24 season. He later moved to Dutch side Helmond Sport, where he made 32 appearances and scored one goal.
In the summer of 2025, the Moroccan center-back signed for Belgian club Mechelen. He featured in 34 matches across all competitions during the 2025–26 campaign, scoring once and providing two assists.
