The Chevening Scholarships, enabling foreign students to study in the UK, are open for applications from August 4 to October 6.
A statement shared by the UK Embassy in Morocco said the program offers fully funded master’s degrees at UK universities, attracting hundreds of thousands of applicants from across the world, including Morocco.
Emma Hennessey, Head of the Scholarships Unit at the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), commented on the program, emphasizing that Chevening is looking for exceptional individuals who are ready to collaborate with the UK to help build a “more resilient, prosperous, and sustainable future.”
“We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive cohort of global future leaders, so we are particularly interested in receiving applications from underrepresented groups,” Hennessey said, noting that scholars and fellows are chosen for their leadership and their commitment to creating lasting impact in their communities and globally.
The head of the Scholarships Unit at the FCDO emphasized Chevening’s importance in equipping future leaders with the “tools and connections needed to address shared international challenges together.”
Candidates can submit their applications via www.chevening.org/apply, with the statement strongly encouraging applicants to familiarize themselves with the program’s vision through www.chevening.org/vision.
In January, British Ambassador to Morocco Alex Pinfield OBE celebrated Moroccan Chevening scholars, calling them the country’s future leaders.
“Over the years, we’ve got now 250 Moroccans who’ve been able to take advantage of the Chevening program. And these are Moroccans who are going to be the future leaders of Morocco. And it’s our very great privilege to be able to have them as part of our Chevening program and to welcome home the scholars today,” the ambassador told Morocco World News (MWN).
Pinfield OBE stressed how much he enjoyed hearing Moroccan students‘ stories about their lives in the UK, commending the expansion of British education and the English language in Morocco.
