Rabat – Morocco international Achraf Hakimi will return to Paris Saint-Germain training later than initially expected after the French champions extended his post-World Cup break.
The right-back had been due to rejoin PSG after four weeks of rest following Morocco’s quarterfinal exit at the 2026 FIFA World Cup against France on July 9.
However, French media reports indicate that the club has decided to give the 27-year-old a few extra days off before he resumes preparations for the new season.
Hakimi is now expected back at the club on Monday alongside several French internationals, including Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, Warren Zaire-Emery, and Lucas Hernandez.
Their return was also postponed as PSG prepares for Saturday’s preseason friendly against Manchester United.
The extended break comes after another demanding stretch for Hakimi, who has barely had time away from football over the past two seasons.
The Moroccan defender featured at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games before completing a lengthy campaign with PSG. He then took part in the FIFA Club World Cup, the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and the 2026 FIFA World Cup with the Atlas Lions.
PSG has yet to officially comment on Hakimi’s revised return date, but the additional rest is seen as a measure to help the defender recover after an extended run of club and international commitments.
