Rabat— Morocco enjoyed another encouraging day at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, with several athletes advancing to finals, led by Osama Er Redouani, who posted the fastest qualifying time in the men’s 1,500 meters.
Er Redouani clocked a personal best of 3:42.23 to win his qualifying heat and finish as the overall fastest qualifier, strengthening his status as one of the favorites ahead of Sunday’s final.
Fellow Moroccan Mohammed El Moussalit also booked his place in the men’s 1,500m final after finishing third in his heat in 3:45.28, the 11th-fastest time across all qualifiers.
The men’s 1,500m final is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, at 22:25 Morocco time.

Morocco also secured a place in the women’s 1,500m final through Saida El-Bouzy, who finished third in her heat with a time of 4:13.13, ranking fifth overall among the qualifiers.
Her compatriot Chaimae Zahiri missed out on qualification after placing eighth in her heat in 4:25.87.
The women’s 1,500m final will take place on Sunday, August 9, at 21:52 Morocco time.
In the men’s 3,000m steeplechase, Mahfoud Bellal progressed to the final after finishing second in his heat in 8:48.48, recording the fourth-fastest qualifying time overall.
The final is set for Sunday, August 9, at 22:05 Morocco time.
Elsewhere, Rania El Hamdaoui produced a strong performance in the women’s 400m hurdles, winning her heat in 58.03 seconds to advance to the semifinals with the fifth-fastest time overall.
The semifinals are scheduled for the early hours of Sunday, August 9, at 02:15 Morocco time.
In the men’s 400m hurdles, Adam Namar also secured a semifinal spot after finishing second in his heat in 51.39 seconds, the 18th-fastest qualifying time.
His semifinal is set for 02:41 Morocco time on Sunday.
Morocco narrowly missed another qualifier in the men’s 400m, where Aimrane Bintaoui finished fourth in his heat in 47.45 seconds, falling short of a place in the next round.
