Er Redouani Wins Bronze in 1500m at World Athletics U20 Championships

Meknes – Moroccan runner Osama Redouani claimed bronze in the men’s 1,500m at the U20 World Athletics Championships held in Eugene, Oregon, USA on Sunday. His third-place finish added another proud moment for his national team on the global stage.

Clocking in at 3 minutes, 39.68 seconds, the Moroccan athlete secured a third-place finish in the final race. The strong performance officially placed him among the world’s top medalists.

Kenya swept the top two spots as Wilson Chepkoech took gold in 3:37.46, followed closely by his compatriot David Kabaiko Skeneto, who secured silver in 3:38.32.

Morocco’s Mohamed El Moussalit also featured in the final race, placing fourth with a time of 3:41.09.

The bronze brought Morocco’s total to two medals for the championships, following Imad Bouchajda’s historic victory in the 800m. With that gold, Bouchajda became the first Moroccan runner ever to win a U20 world title in the 800m.

The Moroccan squad concluded its U20 World Championships campaign with a two-medal haul, bringing home one gold and one bronze.

Morocco finished 15th in the overall medal standings, trailing athletic powerhouses like the United States and Kenya, yet outranking several European and African nations. This result underscores Morocco’s growing footprint in international athletics.

The host nation dominated the competition, as the United States topped the final standings with an impressive 23 medals, including 11 gold, seven silver, and five bronze.
