Meknes – Cristiano Ronaldo has sparked fresh talk of retirement after revealing that the coming year will likely be the final season of his professional career.
Speaking in an interview with lifestyle magazine Vogue on Sunday, the legendary forward reflected on the closing chapter of his career, discussing his remaining time on the pitch and his desire to finish on a high note.
“This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy,” Ronaldo said.
Looking ahead to life after hanging up his boots, the superstar also shared how he plans to handle the transition away from the pitch.
“I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one,” he added.
The 41-year-old player also opened up about his personal goals off the pitch, pointing to simple pleasures and quality time after decades of high-level competition.
“And also have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I’ve earned,what we’ve earned. Because after all it’s been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice,” he concluded.
The Portugal captain stands among the most successful players in football history, having collected major trophies across spells at Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nassr. Over a career spanning more than two decades, he has consistently won silverware at every stop of his journey.
