Rabat – Chinese battery materials producer CNGR Advanced Material has reported a major production milestone at its Morocco industrial base.
According to CNGR’s 2026 half-year report, the company’s first-phase nickel-based materials production line in Morocco reached more than 1,000 tons of output in June 2026. The milestone was reported as part of the company’s global expansion during the first half of the year.
The production line is part of CNGR’s wider industrial platform in Jorf Lasfar, in Morocco’s El Jadida province. The Chinese company operates in partnership with Morocco’s Al Mada through COBCO, a joint venture established to develop battery materials and related industrial activities in the country.
CNGR said its Morocco industrial base is designed to produce battery materials and support the company’s global supply chain. The company has previously said Morocco’s location, access to raw materials and renewable energy, and proximity to European markets make the country an important part of its international expansion.
The new production figure comes as CNGR reports strong growth across its business. In the first half of 2026, the company recorded revenue of 33.58 billion yuan ($4.69 billion), up 57.51% from the same period last year, while net profit reached 1.80 billion yuan, according to its half-year report.
CNGR said its nickel- and cobalt-based precursor shipments reached 155,900 tons during the first half of the year, an increase of 42.34% year-on-year. Its Morocco base was among the company’s overseas projects contributing to its global production expansion.
The Moroccan facility is part of a broader strategy to build battery-material production closer to major international markets. CNGR has described Morocco as a strategic hub for serving European and other overseas customers while making use of the country’s industrial infrastructure and resources.
The production milestone also adds to Morocco’s growing presence in the electric vehicle battery industry. The country has attracted major investments in battery materials, electric vehicle components and related industries as it seeks to build a more integrated automotive and clean-energy manufacturing ecosystem.
