Agadir – The US Department of War has awarded CAE Inc., a Canadian defense and aviation training company, a maximum $42.1 million contract to provide the Royal Moroccan Air Force (RMAF) with two F-16 Block 72 full-mission trainer systems.
According to a contract published by the US Department of War on August 31, the fixed-price and cost-reimbursable contract is valued at $42,103,873 and includes training systems as well as contractor logistics support.
The department said the contract will provide Morocco with “two F-16 full mission trainer systems,” along with instructor-operator stations and F-16 Block 72 cockpits.
The systems will also include visual display and computational systems, power distribution equipment, and a Joint Helmet-Mounted Cueing System II (JHMCS II) helmet-mounted display, among other equipment.
It also covers one uninterruptible power supply, one central file server, spare parts, and support equipment.
Work will be carried out in Arlington, Texas, and at Sidi Slimane Air Base in Morocco, with completion expected by April 30, 2029, according to the announcement.
The US Department of War said the contract falls under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program to Morocco, with $37,975,064 in FMS funds being obligated at the time of the award.
The contract was awarded to CAE Inc., based in Arlington, Texas, by the US Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Agile Combat Support Directorate, Simulators Division, at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
The new training systems will support Morocco’s F-16 Block 72 fleet as the North African country continues to expand and modernize its air force capabilities.
The US government previously approved Morocco’s acquisition of 25 F-16C/D Block 72 aircraft, alongside an upgrade program for the Royal Moroccan Air Force’s existing F-16 fleet.
The latest contract focuses specifically on pilot training infrastructure, allowing Moroccan crews to train on systems designed to replicate the capabilities and configuration of the F-16 Block 72 without relying exclusively on operational aircraft for training.
