Rabat – A 25-year-old Spanish woman has been arrested in Ceuta on suspicion of homicide after a Moroccan man died during an incident at her home this morning, according to police sources cited by several Spanish media outlets.

The incident took place at around 7 a.m. in the former Poblado de Regulares area. The man, who was reportedly staying at the woman’s home, suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest during a confrontation between the two, according to initial information from investigators.

Emergency services were called to the property, but the man could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene. The National Police then arrested the woman and launched an investigation into the circumstances of the death.

The man was reportedly the woman’s cousin and was also reportedly staying or living at the property, although authorities are still investigating the circumstances of his presence there.

There are also differences in reports about the ages involved. EFE-based reports identify the woman as 25, while Europa Press reported that both the woman and the victim were between 30 and 35. The man’s exact age has not been consistently reported.

The victim was Moroccan and was reportedly in Spain without legal documentation. Some outlets have reported that he may have been among the migrants who entered Ceuta during the mass arrival at the end of July. However, EL PAÍS reported that police had not confirmed whether he was part of that group.

Police Scientific and Judicial officers examined the property after the incident, while the duty judge also went to the scene. The body was removed at around 10.30 a.m. after the judge authorized its lifting and was taken away by the Al-Qadar funeral service.

Investigators were also searching for the weapon allegedly used in the attack. Local reports said it had not been found at the time of their latest updates.

The reason for the confrontation remains unclear. Police sources have only indicated that an argument took place before the alleged stabbing. Reports suggesting that the dispute began because the woman did not want the man to stay at the property have appeared in some media, but this detail has not been confirmed consistently by official sources.

Authorities have also confirmed that the detained woman has previously diagnosed mental-health problems and a history of substance use. It has not been established whether either circumstance was connected to the incident.

The investigation remains open. Police are continuing to establish what happened inside the home, the circumstances surrounding the victim’s stay there and the events that preceded his death.
