Rabat – Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has confirmed that Achraf Hakimi suffered a slight injury to his right thigh during the club’s game against Brest.
PSG issued a brief statement providing an update on Hakimi’s injury, stating that he will remain under treatment for the next two days.
“A further medical assessment will be conducted at the end of this period,” PSG said.
PSG marked a successful return to the French league, with the club securing a 1-0 win against Brest.
Hakimi is among the foundational pillars for PSG despite his recent physical setback.
His importance lies in his recurring nominations for key awards, including the Ballon d’Or.
Earlier this month, a list featured him among the 30-man shortlist for the 2026 Ballon d’Or, further strengthening his reputation as one of the world’s premier full-backs.
Despite PSG’s confirmation that the injury is minor, reports suggest there are serious doubts over whether Hakimi will be available for the upcoming Le Classique derby against Marseille. The game is due September 20.
Hakimi is also among the key players in Morocco’s national squad, where he has served as captain.
He led Morocco in major tournaments, including AFCON, which the Atlas Lions won by forfeit following Senegal’s withdrawal.
Hakimi also led the national team in the recent World Cup, where the Atlas Lions lost to France in the quarterfinals.
Responding to criticism he endured following the World Cup elimination, Hakimi concluded the tournament with a social media post stating that Morocco “continues to write its history and the best yet to come.”
