Rabat – Moroccan authorities arrested Friday in Agadir a 31-year-old Swedish national who is wanted internationally by Swedish judicial authorities over an alleged attempted murder case.
Officers from the Agadir Provincial Judicial Police Department in coordination carried out the arrest in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
A check of the suspect’s identity revealed that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant and an Interpol Red Notice issued at the request of Swedish authorities.
The suspect is wanted in connection with a case involving suspected attempted intentional murder, according to Moroccan authorities.
Following instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office, the Swedish national was placed under extradition procedures.
Morocco’s National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat, which operates under the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), was tasked with notifying its Swedish counterpart of the arrest as part of the extradition process.
The arrest forms part of Morocco’s international security cooperation efforts, particularly in pursuing individuals wanted internationally in cases involving transnational crime.
The arrest follows a similar case earlier this month. On September 16, Morocco’s judicial police arrested a 22-year-old Swedish national in Tangier based on an international arrest warrant issued by Swedish judicial authorities.
An identity check confirmed that the suspect appeared on Interpol’s wanted list. The organization had issued a Red Notice against him at the request of Swedish judicial authorities in connection with a case involving attempted murder.
The suspect was subsequently placed under extradition procedures following instructions from the competent public prosecutor’s office. Morocco’s National Central Bureau of Interpol in Rabat notified its Swedish counterpart of the arrest as part of the extradition process.
