Rabat – Moroccan coach Badou Zaki has weighed in on Jordan’s path to the 2030 World Cup, a tournament scheduled to be hosted across Morocco, Spain, and Portugal.
Speaking to FIFA’s official website, Zaki noted that discussions regarding the 2030 World Cup remain premature.
He stressed that the Jordanian squad is strictly focused on immediate milestones, prioritizing the 2027 Asian Cup above long-term projections.
“I think it’s premature to talk about the 2030 World Cup just yet. Our current focus is on tournaments coming up in the near future, in particular the 2027 Asian Cup. We’re working to be as prepared as possible for those matches,” Zaki said.
Expressing strong confidence in the national team’s long-term trajectory, Zaki hailed the squad’s growth and maturity over recent years.
The Moroccan tactician underscored that Jordan now possesses the tactical foundation and international experience needed to become a mainstay on football’s biggest stage.
“The Jordan team today has considerable potential and has gained greater experience at both the continental and international level, so we have all the ingredients we need to help us reach the World Cup on a regular basis,” he added.
On a personal level, Zaki acknowledged how meaningful a potential World Cup appearance for Jordan would be, particularly given that the 2030 tournament will take place in Morocco.
“For me personally, it would certainly be special to see Jordan at the 2030 World Cup, especially with my home country hosting the tournament. But our focus right now has to be on the work and the fixtures ahead of us – one step at a time,” Zaki explained.
The Moroccan coach remains proud of the team’s debut World Cup run, maintaining that holding their own in a tough group proves Jordan has the caliber to consistently compete at the highest level.
