Rabat – Forty-year-old David Silva decided to end his career after suffering a serious knee injury during preseason training with Real Sociedad in 2023.
The former Spain international, however, reconsidered his decision and has resumed his career after joining Hong Kong club Supreme Sha Tin, which announced the move on social media Wednesday.
The club said Silva will travel to Hong Kong to meet his new teammates, join training, and prepare for upcoming competitions.
Founded in 1982, Supreme Sha Tin earned promotion to the Hong Kong Premier League and currently sits eighth in the competition.
Silva brings two decades of experience to the club, with a career that includes a FIFA World Cup title with Spain in 2010, two UEFA European Championship titles, four Premier League titles during his 10-year spell with Manchester City, and two Copa del Rey trophies.
Silva expressed his excitement about the new chapter in his career, as well as his interest in Hong Kong’s football, culture, people, and food.
“I am delighted to join Supreme Sha Tin,” Silva said in a video posted on the club’s social media channels.
