Rabat – Morocco’s national football team will face Niger twice in November as part of the third and fourth rounds of qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with the matches taking place in Casablanca and Rabat.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced the schedule on Sunday, October 18, confirming that the Atlas Lions will host Niger at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca on Friday, November 13.
The match, corresponding to the third round of the qualifiers, will kick off at 8 p.m. local time.
Four days later, the two teams will meet again on Tuesday, November 17, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, with kick-off also scheduled for 8 p.m.
The second encounter will count as Niger’s home fixture, despite taking place on Moroccan soil.
Morocco look to extend winning start
The two matches come as Morocco seek to maintain their perfect start to the AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
Under head coach Mohamed Ouahbi, the Atlas Lions have won their opening two matches, defeating Gabon 2-0 in Rabat on September 25 before securing another 2-0 victory against Lesotho in South Africa on September 29.
Those results have placed Morocco at the top of Group A with six points, ahead of Gabon and Niger, who have three points each, while Lesotho remain without a point.
Niger began their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Lesotho before suffering a 2-0 defeat against Gabon.
The November encounters will therefore give Morocco an opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of the group as they seek qualification for the continental tournament.
The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from June 19 to July 17, 2027.
The qualifying competition features 48 national teams divided into 12 groups, with the top two teams from most groups advancing to the finals.
After the November international window, Morocco will complete their qualifying campaign in March 2027, when they face Gabon and Lesotho in the final two rounds.
