Rabat – Authorities have launched an inquiry into a burglary at the home of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes after Intruders entered the house and stole several personal items.
According to The Athletic, Cheshire Police confirmed officers were dispatched to the scene Wednesday evening following reports of a break-in.
Officers arriving at the location launched an official investigation into the incident shortly after inspecting the home.
Addressing the incident, Detective Inspector Dave Jarvis told The Athletic: “The caller reported three unknown men in the rear garden of a neighbouring property.”
He added that law enforcement officers responded swiftly to the report as part of their initial efforts to secure the perimeter and locate the individuals involved.
“Officers attended the scene and on arrival there was no trace of the suspects. However, officers discovered that there had been a burglary at the address and a number of items had been stolen,” the detective inspector added.
“An investigation into the incident has been launched and enquiries are ongoing,” he concluded.
The incident came to light shortly after Manchester United’s heavy 4-1 Champions League loss to Como in Italy.
A statement from Manchester United, reported by The Athletic, confirmed that Bruno Fernandes’ house was empty at the time of the break-in.
Intruders were inside the residence for under five minutes before fleeing the scene just as police officers arrived.
Despite the team’s ongoing struggles, Fernandes has featured in every single match for United this season.
Wearing the captain’s armband on Wednesday, the midfielder saw the club’s poor run of form stretch to seven consecutive games without a victory.
Currently sitting 13th in the Premier League table, Manchester United turn their focus back to domestic action this Sunday when they welcome Bournemouth to Old Trafford.
