Rabat – Morocco’s under-15 national football team has qualified for the second round of the World Cup finals after winning all five of its opening-round matches.
The young Atlas Lions secured qualification with a convincing 5-1 victory over Liberia on Monday, extending a winning run that began with victories over the Philippines, Costa Rica, and Belize before further success against Curaçao.
Morocco settled the match early, with Saïd Noufii scoring a hat-trick in the opening 10 minutes. He found the net in the fourth, sixth, and 10th minutes, putting Liberia under immediate pressure.
Mohamed Amine El Abbassi added Morocco’s fourth goal in the 16th minute, while Yassine Ajana completed the scoring in the 39th minute. The five goals gave Morocco a commanding lead before halftime and secured a comfortable finish to its first-round campaign.
The U15 side’s qualification gives another opportunity for Morocco to test its young players against international opposition, especially as the competition includes 191 national teams around the world. With the first round completed unbeaten, the U15 team will now look to carry its scoring form into the second round.
The qualification also adds to Morocco’s growing record of success in international youth football as the country won the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2025 under coach Mohamed Ouahbi after defeating Argentina 2-0 in the final. The achievement is a motivation for the U15 national team to go far in the tournament.
Morocco’s next challenge will be to maintain the same attacking fierceness that carried it through the opening stage.
