Rabat – Former Dutch international Ruud Gullit has advised against rushing Moroccan prodigy Abdellah Ouazane, urging observers to exercise patience with the Ajax youngster.
Gullit stressed the importance of giving the rising star the necessary time to mature, warning against the pressure to demand his immediate presence in every starting lineup.
Speaking on Ziggo Sport’s Rondo show, Gullit noted that while the 17-year-old possesses impressive potential, he still requires protection at this stage of his career.
He pointed out that fans should refrain from pushing for the youngster’s permanent inclusion in the starting XI before he is fully ready.
“There are those who say Ouazane should always play, but sometimes you also have to protect him,” Gullit said.
Pointing to Lamine Yamal’s regular playing time at Barcelona despite his youth, Gullit noted that such instances are rare.
He stressed that the Spanish star is a unique exception rather than a model that every young player can immediately follow.
Gullit expressed his admiration for Ouazane’s playing style, noting how refreshing it is to watch a young player perform with natural spontaneity and freedom.
The Dutch icon pointed out the importance of allowing teenage talents the space to express their individual abilities on the pitch without unnecessary constraints.
Ouazane’s rising profile comes on the heels of a standout spell with Ajax Amsterdam, where his recent performances have caught the attention of several top European clubs.
The young attacker is on an impressive scoring run, finding the net in back-to-back fixtures against Atalanta and Sparta Rotterdam.
