Rabat – Moroccan football team have beaten Cote D’Ivoire in the third match of Group C at the Oyem stadium to book their place in the quarterfinals.

Nine minutes into the second half, Morocco’s substitute Rachid Alioui struck the winner to seal a breathtaking 1-0 victory over the defending champions.

Allioui’s goal allows the Atlas Lions to qualify to the second round of the competition.

This is the first time the Moroccan team qualifies to the second round of the African Cup of Nations since 2004.

With its second win, Morocco finished second of Group C behind the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In the other game of Group C, the Democratic Republic of Congo trashed Togo 3-1 to top the group.
