Rabat – Rwandan President Paul Kagame said that Morocco “shall return” to the African Union (AU) and fulfil its role.

“Several Africans have been linked to Morocco at one point in the history of their country and have benefited from Moroccan hospitality”, the Rwandan president underlined in an interview published by the French-speaking weekly L’Observateur du Maroc et d’Afrique.

In this respect, Kagame noted that as soon as people come together, everyone has a contribution to make. “But we need to meet, settle our differences and find ways to work together”, he pointed out.

“We think about citizens. This is the most important, and that’s what Morocco and Rwanda are doing,” he stressed.

Referring to the recent visit of King Mohammed VI in Kigali as part of a tour to East Africa, the Rwandan president deemed it “very important” for his country.

“Thanks to this visit, we have promoted our relations with Morocco and we seek to go further. There are other AU countries which want to go in this sense”, he said.
