Rabat – The Moroccan Sahara has been ranked among the world’s top 10 arid destinations for desert holidays and tours, according to the British daily newspaper the Telegraph.

AT 9.4 million square kilometers, the Sahara is the largest desert on the planet. It covers larges sections of Morocco, Algeria, Chad, Egypt, Libya, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Sudan and Tunisia.

According to the Telegraph, the Moroccan section of the Sahara, which can have dunes up to 600ft (183m), is the most accessible in the current political climate.

Tourists visiting the Moroccan Sahara can climb dunes, quad biking, camel trekking, sand boarding and stay in Bedouin camps.

The Moroccan Sahara topped the Telegraph Top 10 arid destinations list.

It was followed by the Kalahari Desert (Botswana), the Empty Quarter (United Arab Emirates), Atacama Desert (Chile), Gobi Desert (Mongolia), Great Sandy Desert (Australia), Bardenas Reales Natural Park (Spain), Mojave Desert (USA), Sonoran Desert (USA) and Antarctica.
