Rabat – Al Hoceima’s Grand Stadium opens its doors this evening with a highly anticipated 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Madagascar and the Comoros Islands.
Developed under the “Al Hoceima, Manarat Al Moutawassit” spatial development program, it reflects Morocco’s national strategy to improve sports infrastructure with modern, world-class facilities.
Situated in the Ait Kamra commune, the stadium spans 20 hectares and is up to par with international standards for safety and comfort.
With a seating capacity of 11,000, it features a high-quality natural grass pitch, advanced lighting systems, giant screens, electronic advertising panels, and the latest sound technologies.
The stadium also includes a 200-seat press conference room, a VIP lounge, two spacious locker rooms for players, and designated areas for match officials and observers. The venue also prioritizes accessibility, offering a 2,500-vehicle parking area.
In addition to adhering to modern seismic construction standards, the stadium’s design reflects Al Hoceima’s visual identity with white and blue elements on its façade, roof, and seating, blending advanced architectural features with local aesthetics.
The stadium’s inaugural match will see the two African countries Madagascar and Comoros compete in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The two teams are set to face off at 8 p.m. local time in a Group A qualifier. Meanwhile, Morocco will also take to the field at the same time, playing against Lesotho at Oujda’s Stade d’Honneur.
