Rabat – Israel has finalized a $5.2 billion deal to purchase 25 U.S.-made F-15 fighter jets – each an addition to an arsenal already overwhelming Gaza.

This new fleet, funded by US aid, is being billed as a “defensive upgrade,” though for Palestinians caught beneath these bombers, it spells little more than a tragic continuation of escalating violence.

For the people of Gaza, whose lives and homes have been systematically shattered, “defense” has meant a daily onslaught. The Israeli Occupation Forces’ (IOF) ongoing genocide, which began in October 2023, has left over 43,000 Palestinians killed and thousands more injured.

Neighborhoods once alive with families and children now lie in ruins, reduced to dust by waves of airstrikes. Hospitals struggle to cope with the wounded amid shortages of essential supplies, while families mourn loved ones lost to what has become an unending nightmare.

And yet, the Biden administration’s response has been to double down on military support. Since October, the U.S. has poured in billions in arms, including high-powered laser-guided missiles, 2,000-pound bunker busters, and artillery shells – all with little to no accountability.

This latest transaction with the US, of which was explained as part of larger “strategic partnerships” aimed towards the “precision” of their operations,  simply amplifies Israel’s lethal capacity, ensuring Gaza remains a “testing ground” for advanced weaponry.

The American government’s willingness to fuel this cycle of destruction and genocide raises critical ethical concerns.

By sidestepping congressional oversight, Washington has fast-tracked weapons, ignoring mounting reports from human rights groups about the harrowing civilian toll.

The “precision” rhetoric fails against the grim reality on the ground: Gazan families torn apart, communities flattened, and people left with nowhere to run. The toll is tragically high, and yet every new shipment of arms seems to widen the graveyard.

And now, with a fresh fleet of F-15s ready to take to the skies, the situation promises only more suffering for Palestinians, more shattered lives, and more scenes of unimaginable tragedy.
