Rabat – Morocco’s Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, Abdeltif Loudyi, welcomed high-level French and Saudi officials this week for strategic discussions on defense cooperation.

On Tuesday, Loudy —who is in charge of Morocco’s defense administration — and General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces, hosted Sébastien Lecornu, French Minister of Armed Forces and Veterans, alongside his diplomatic advisor and the Defense Attaché of the French embassy in Rabat.

The meeting focused on bolstering Morocco-France relations, particularly in light of the strategic roadmap outlined by both countries’ leaders.

According to a statement by the National Defense Administration, officials discussed pathways to further reinforce the longstanding “exceptional partnership” between Morocco and France. Lecornu praised Morocco’s role under King Mohammed VI as a key mediator for stability across Africa and the Euro-Mediterranean region.

The Moroccan side pointed to the nation’s commitment to addressing security challenges, which has benefited both African and European neighbors. Both parties expressed a shared commitment to enhancing defense and security cooperation.

In a separate meeting held today, Loudyi also received General Fayyad Ben Hamad Al-Ruwaili, Chief of Staff of the Saudi Armed Forces, in conjunction with his visit to the Marrakech Air Show 2024.

Both officials applauded the positive outcomes of Morocco-Saudi defense cooperation, underlining the historic ties between the two nations.

Al-Ruwaili commended Morocco’s impressive economic and social development, which has made the country a dynamic player and a haven of stability for its Euro-Mediterranean and African neighbors.

In both meetings, Moroccan and foreign defense officials voiced their commitment to further strengthening defense and security ties, affirming a mutual ambition for collaboration.
