Rabat – Morocco welcomed Lieutenant General Aboubacar Sidiki Camara, Guinea’s Minister of State for National Defense, for a working visit on Tuesday.

The meeting took place at the National Defense Administration headquarters, attended by Abdeltif Loudyi, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, and Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces.

The discussions focused on deepening bilateral military cooperation and enhancing the existing partnership between Morocco and Guinea.

The meeting exemplified the high priority that Guinea places on its relationship with Morocco, as articulated by Camara, who expressed admiration for the various South-South initiatives championed by King Mohammed VI.

“Morocco has emerged as a pivotal player in promoting stability, progress, and peace across Africa,” Camara stated, highlighting the importance of cooperation in advancing mutual interests.

Both delegations reiterated their shared ambition to diversify and strengthen their military cooperation, reflecting a friendship built on respect and shared goals.

A press release from the National Defense Administration touched upon the commitment of both countries to work collaboratively in military matters.

This visit is part of a broader context of strengthening ties between the two nations, further emphasized by the recently concluded 7th session of the Morocco-Guinea Joint Commission.

Held on July 10, 2023, in Dakhla, this session brought together the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Guinean counterpart to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation.

During this session, both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing collaboration in various fields, which has been particularly relevant since King Mohammed VI’s visits to Conakry in 2014 and 2017.

These visits have been pivotal in initiating several royal projects aimed at development and cooperation between the two nations.

The Joint Commission, which occurred after an 11-year hiatus, highlighted the importance of this institutional mechanism for fostering cooperation and progress in the relationship between Morocco and Guinea.

Lieutenant General Camara’s visit reinforces the shared aspirations of both nations to collaborate more closely in the military realm.
