The Moroccan-Spanish cooperation on the occasion of the official visit by Spanish King Juan Carlos I to Morocco and the political negotiations to form a new government coalition after the withdrawal of the Istiqlal Party are the main topics that made the headlines of editorials issued on July 18.
“Aujourd’hui le Maroc” says that the Moroccan-Spanish cooperation reached a new stage with the visit by Spanish King Juan Carlos I to Morocco.
It added that new prospects are opening before the two countries few months after the visit by Spain’s head of government Mariano Rajoy.
This cooperation is happening at a time when a right wing cabinet is running the country, it noted, underlining that the Rajoy-led government understood that the two countries will gain more if they join hands.
The visit of Juan Carlos I confirms this interest in Morocco which has become a real hub for all Africa, writes the editorialist, explaining that the Moroccan-Spanish relations have always been excellent when the Spanish left wing was in power.
Regarding political negotiations to form a new government coalition, “L’Economiste” says that the only problem is to choose a new partner and cut the losses after the Istiqlal’s withdrawal, the allies of the majority are facing an easy choice: integrating the formation which can mathematically allow them to continue being part of the government.
According to the paper, the RNI party seems to be ahead of other parties as a potential ally, but, as in all similar negotiations, nothing is for sure until the final decision.
