According to the CBS News, the Associated Press website on Tuesday was brought down by hackers who announced that two explosions took place in the White house, resulting in the injury of Barack Obama.
The alleged of AP read as follows: “Breaking: Two Explosions in the White House and Barack Obama is injured.”
Immediately after the hoax was announced, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney confirmed that “the president is fine,” CBS news reported on Tuesday.
As a result of the havoc wrecked by this hacking attempt, AP announced it would suspend its Twitter account.
“The tweet, which said that there had been two explosions at the White House and President Barack Obama was injured, came after hackers made repeated attempts to steal the passwords of AP journalists,” said the AP in a statement.
