Rabat – Rachad Fettal, the 19-year-old Moroccan international currently playing for Almeria, will be out of action for several months due to a serious knee injury.
The club confirmed on Tuesday that Fettal fractured the external meniscus in his right knee during a training session last weekend.
Medical scans showed the extent of the injury, and the young talent is set to undergo surgery on Thursday.
The club stated that the exact recovery timeline will be determined after an arthroscopy, which will allow doctors to assess the condition of the joint more closely. This procedure will help establish the next steps in Fettal’s rehabilitation.
Fettal has been a promising figure in Almeria’s first team this season. A product of the club’s youth academy, he has featured in 16 matches so far, scoring one goal and providing an assist.
His performances have come in 13 La Liga Hypermotion games and three Copa del Rey fixtures.
The injury is an unfortunate setback for both the player and the club, as Fettal had been showing strong potential in his first season with the senior squad.
In addition to his contributions at the club level, Fettal is also a key member of Morocco’s U-20 national team.
The injury will likely impact his international prospects for the upcoming months, but his focus will be on recovery in the hopes of returning to full fitness as soon as possible.
Almeria’s medical team and Fettal himself will be carefully monitoring the rehabilitation process, and supporters will be eager for his return to the pitch once he has fully recovered.
