Marrakech – The Emilia-Romagna Regional Agency for Labor in Italy has recently published a public notice inviting employers to express interest in hiring Moroccan professionals trained in mechatronics for production units located in the Emilia-Romagna region.
This initiative is part of the THAMM Plus Project, which aims to facilitate the professional mobility of 500 workers between Morocco and the Italian regions of Lombardy, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna.
The project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), seeks to address labor shortages identified by Moroccan and Tunisian authorities, as well as the three Italian regions.
It also contributes to strengthening the protection mechanisms for migrant workers throughout the migration cycle.
Employers interested in participating in the project must have been established and active for at least one year and refer to the professional profiles indicated in the notice, which have been identified as the most responsive to the needs expressed by employer organizations in the mechatronics sector.
The submission of expressions of interest is not binding for employers, who remain free to not proceed with the selection or hiring of proposed candidates.
The project’s admission process will follow a chronological order based on the date of submission of the application, which must be sent to the Labor Policies Service by December 31, 2024.
Selected candidates will undergo professional training in Morocco tailored to the specific positions of interest before being presented to Italian employers for potential hiring.
THAMM Plus builds upon the regional action “Towards a Holistic Approach to Labour Migration Governance and Labour Mobility in North Africa” (THAMM), which is in line with existing policy frameworks at the global and regional levels, such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals 8 and 10, the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly, and Regular Migration, and the European Union’s New Pact on Migration and Asylum.
Companies based in Lombardy, Veneto, and Emilia-Romagna interested in participating in the project can benefit from the opportunity to meet their labor needs with qualified professionals trained according to their requirements, participate in free training and exchange activities offered by IOM, and explore the potential of North Africa as a labor and economic market.
