Rabat – The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning indicating an impending heatwave with temperatures ranging from 38 to 47 degrees Celsius across various provinces of Morocco.

Classified as orange-level vigilance, the alert forecasts exceptionally high temperatures starting from Saturday until Monday next week.

According to the Directorate, temperatures between 38 and 43 degrees Celsius are expected in the provinces of Taourirt, Khenifra, Settat, Marrakech, Agadir Idaoutanane, and Guercif.

The affected regions also include Ouarzazate, Essaouira, Guelmim, Tantan, and Laayoune, among others.

Meanwhile, temperatures are anticipated to soar even higher, ranging from 43 to 47 degrees Celsius in regions Zagora, Tinghir, Errachidia, Tata, Assa-Zag, Smara, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, and Awsard.

Authorities advise to take precautionary measures to mitigate the effects of the heatwave, such as staying hydrated, avoiding prolonged exposure to the sun, and seeking shade during peak daylight hours.

They also urge the public to remain vigilant and follow safety guidelines issued by local authorities to ensure their well-being during this extreme weather event.

Moroccans across the country are flocking to beaches as a refuge from the heat due to the scorching temperatures. Beach towns and coastal areas are experiencing an influx of visitors seeking relief and relaxation by the sea.
