A Moroccan man accused of killing his transgender Thai lover in Chiang Mai, Thailand has been arrested in Turkiye and faces extradition, police say.

Interpol officers caught Bilal Chenfinu, 30, at a hotel in Turkiye. Thai police say he fled the country in December hours after the killing.

The victim, Dr. Thitikarn Dulikanon, owned a clinic in Chiang Mai. She was last seen on December 4, and a housekeeper found her body two days later.

Police say Chenfinu was living with Thitikarn at the clinic. CCTV footage showed them entering together. Hours later, he was seen leaving alone in her car.

Security footage showed Chenfinu driving away at 2 a.m. on December 5. He left the car at Chiang Mai Airport before flying to Hong Kong on AirAsia Flight FD515 at 6 a.m. Thai time.

Thitikarn’s sister said she last spoke to her on December 4, but didn’t report her missing. She thought her sister was travelling with her boyfriend.

With the suspect out of the country, Thai police sought Interpol’s help and investigators tracked him to Turkiye.

The main motive? Thai police believe it was jealousy. They are now working with Turkish authorities to bring Chenfinu back to face charges.

More to follow as investigations are underway.
