Rabat – Cashplus, a money transfer service in Morocco, will incorporate Western Union’s money transfer services on its mobile application.

The company said today that the new service seeks to allow customers to experience “innovative solution” digitizing transactions and receive money transfers via Western Union directly into their Cashplus wallet.

“Customers can now also use the app to send money abroad through Western Union’s vast global network, directly to the bank accounts of their loved ones or for cash withdrawals at any Western Union point of sale worldwide,” Cashplus said.

The new service aims to ease financial accessibility for Moroccans domestically as well as residents receiving funds from abroad.

Hazim Sebbata, CEO of Cashplus, said the company’s mission is to “democratize access to digital financial services” and make its customers’ “Daily lives easier.”

“With this new feature, we offer them more flexibility and convenience in managing their international transfers,” Sebbata said.

The company also expressed satisfaction with its collaboration with Western Union, noting that this cooperation has been ongoing for two decades.

Morocco has been strengthening its position as one of the top recipients of diaspora remittances from the MENA region.

The Migration and Development Brief from the World Bank said last year that Morocco is the second largest recipient of remittances in MENA after Egypt, with the inflows of remittances consistently exceeding foreign direct investment flows.

Recent data from Morocco’s Exchange Office in February said remittances reached $11.4 billion in 2024, and that the transfers significantly contributed to Morocco’s economic growth.
