FAR Files Complaint Against Pyramids FC Over Limited Tickets for Fans

The Egyptian side allocated only 200 tickets for FAR’s fans instead of the required 1,500, which is just 0.66% of the stadium’s capacity instead of the mandated 5%.

Rabat – Moroccan football club Royal Army (FAR AS) filed on Wednesday a complaint with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) against Egypt’s Pyramids FC over ticket allocation during their last game.

The complaint accuses Pyramids of failing to provide enough tickets for FAR’s fans during their match, which took place on Tuesday in Cairo. The game was part of the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

The Rabat-based club criticized the Egyptian club for preventing a large number of its supporters from attending the game. The club stated that it had taken all necessary steps to secure tickets for its fans, as required by CAF regulations.

“During the pre-match technical meeting on March 31, Pyramids FC informed us that only 100 tickets would be allocated to our fans. This does not comply with CAF rules, which state that at least 5% of the stadium’s capacity must be given to the visiting team’s supporters,” FAR said in a statement.

In this case, the Egyptian side should have allocated 1,500 tickets for the Moroccan fans, as the Air Defense Stadium has a capacity of 30,000 seats.

The Moroccan club further stated that it had contacted both CAF and Pyramids FC to request a correction. CAF issued an official directive instructing Pyramids FC to provide more tickets to avoid security risks. However, the Egyptian club only added 100 more tickets, leaving many FAR fans unable to enter the stadium.

The match, which ended in a 4-1 victory for Pyramids FC, was marked by chaos outside the stadium, as many FAR supporters were denied entry.

FAR is now seeking action from CAF to address the issue and ensure fair treatment for visiting fans in future matches.
