Morocco’s men’s futsal team has moved up to sixth in the latest FIFA world rankings, up one spot despite a slight drop in points. The rise follows Kazakhstan’s fall to seventh after losing over 60 points.

With 1,468.4 points, Morocco remains Africa’s top-ranked nation, well ahead of Egypt (37th), Libya (46th), South Africa (49th, up two), and Angola (58th).

Globally, Brazil leads the standings, followed by Portugal. Spain (3rd) has overtaken Argentina (4th), while Iran (5th) and Morocco (6th) also advanced, pushing Kazakhstan down two spots.

Poland (19th, up three) and Armenia (20th, up 11) have entered the top 20 for the first time. Other significant movers include Bosnia and Herzegovina (36th, up 12), Andorra (55th, up 13), Latvia (60th, up 11), and Greece (88th, up 19).

On the women’s side, Morocco jumped 18 places to 47th — one of the strongest performances in this update. The team now tops the African rankings, ahead of Senegal in 78th.

The Atlas Lionesses will take part in the first ever CAF Futsal Women’s Africa Cup of Nations from 22 to 30 April. The tournament offers two places at the FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup in late November, held in the Philippines.

Morocco faces Namibia on April 22 at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT), followed by a match against Cameroon on April 24 at the same time. Both games take place at the 10,000-seat Moulay Abdallah Sports Hall in Rabat.

The top team from each group of three, along with the best runner-up, qualifies for the semi-finals. The winners progress to the final, where the champions of CAF Futsal Women’s AFCON will be crowned.
