Hytera, one of the world’s leading providers of professional communications technology, is doubling down on Africa as it bets on the continent’s digital transformation.

Speaking at GITEX Africa 2025, Jayden Chen, General Director of Hytera Morocco, laid out the company’s ambitions.

Founded in China in 1993, Hytera has risen to the top of the global communications sector. It boasts expertise in DMR and TETRA systems and is increasingly entering 4G and 5G networks.

“It’s much more than just walkie-talkies,” Chen said. “We deliver end-to-end solutions like hardware, software, and systems that ensure secure, reliable communication for critical sectors.”

The company’s presence in Morocco is already embedded in the national infrastructure. From railways, airports, and seaports to emergency response systems, Hytera is keeping things running. “We work with the Moroccan government and sectors like logistics, entertainment, and events,” said Chen. “Communication is the backbone.”

But Morocco is just the tip of the antenna. Hytera’s African reach spans 15 years and stretches across much of the continent. In South Africa alone, over 300 companies rely on its systems.

In Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, the Congos and Cameroon, police forces, railways, and other essential services are wired through Hytera high-tech gear.

Chen’s view of Africa’s potential is unequivocal: “Africa is the future. The digital shift here is real, and we’re ready to support it with scalable, integrated systems.”
