Rabat- The General Directorate of National Security launched a new platform called “E-Blagh,” dedicated to combating cybercrime, during the 5th edition of the DGSN Open Days, held to celebrate the institution’s 68th anniversary.
Laila Zouine, Chief Commissioner of the Criminal Evidence and Photography Department at the Central Directorate of Judicial Police within the DGSN, revealed to MAP that the platform, developed by officials and experts from gthNational Security and Territorial Surveillance, seeks to engage internet users in combating digital crime.
Internet users now have the ability to report illicit content online around the clock. This includes various offenses such as online fraud, sexual exploitation of children, sextortion, terrorism or its promotion, incitement to discrimination, hatred and violence, and threats of criminal acts.
Zouine is also responsible for the cybercrime booth at the Open Days, aiming to educate visitors about different forms of cybercrime and ways to prevent it through various workshops and informational brochures.
According to a recent report from Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky, Morocco experienced over 56,000 cyberattacks targeting mobile phones in 2023.
Globally, attacks on mobile devices surged significantly in 2023, with an annual average increase of 52%, reaching a total of 33.7 million.
It’s noteworthy that the kickoff of the 5th edition of the DGSN Open Days took place Thursday evening in Agadir, under the theme “National Security: Citizenship and Solidarity.”
This civic initiative, running until May 21, aims to inform the public about the modernization efforts implemented by the DGSN to ensure the safety of individuals and property, as well as to maintain public order.
