Barcelona and Bayern Munich are reportedly exploring a swap deal that could see Uruguayan centre-back Ronald Araújo head to Bavaria, while Moroccan full-back Adam Aznou returns to Catalonia.
Spanish outlet Carpetas Blaugranas broke the story, suggesting discussions are gaining traction.
Bayern boss Vincent Kompany is said to be pushing for Araújo’s signature, viewing him as the ideal anchor for a backline that’s faltered under the pairing of Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae. Kompany reportedly sees the Barcelona defender as a cornerstone for his project.
On the other end, Barça are keen to reinforce the left side of their defence – a position that’s been problematic since Alejandro Balde’s recurring injuries. Aznou, who came through La Masia before leaving on a free to Bayern in 2022, is seen as a smart fit.
Still only 18, Aznou was loaned to Real Valladolid in January and is set to return to Munich this summer, possibly just in time to be shipped back to Barcelona under this proposed exchange.
No official confirmation yet, but if sealed, the deal would be a rare win-win: Bayern get a top-class defender ready for now, and Barça reclaim a promising gem for the future.
