Rabat – Morocco’s preparatory classes Lydex High School was ranked among the top institutions that offer students a high chance of accessing the best higher education institutions.
Located in Ben Guerir, Lydex’s driving mission is to educate Morocco’s brightest students in engineering-related fields.
Put together by French magazine L’Etudiant, the ranking is based on data from 2023 integration rates. The rankings feature different lists to guide students in the process of choosing the preparatory classes that would offer them the best chance to access their desired higher education institution.
In the Mathematics-Physics (MP) streams, Lydex High School secured the second position in the MP rankings.
Around 16% of Lydex’s graduates accessed French University Ecole Polytechnique, also known as University X, which is the country’s most prestigious higher education institution. Lymed in Martil was the second Moroccan school featuring as a top pick for students aspiring to finish studies at X, with 8% of the total of its 2023 graduates joining the French university.
But Lydex wasn’t the only Moroccan institution making waves. From Rabat to Marrakech, institutions like Al Zahrawi High School and Lymed in Martil ranked as top picks for students looking to pursue studies at France’s best higher education institutions.
Morocco is home to twenty institutions holding 19 scientific preparatory classes for engineering schools in both Morocco and France. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Moroccan students continued to flock to French universities.
In a 2021 report, the French newspaper Le Figaro highlighted Moroccan students’ outstanding performance in admission exams for French universities.
“Every year, Moroccan students make a splash in French engineering school competitions,” wrote the French newspaper, adding that Moroccan students’ “level in maths is incredible.”
