Fez – In the pivotal final week of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the DR Congo will face host Cote d’Ivoire, setting the stage for a rematch of the 2015 semi-final where The Elephants emerged victorious with a 3-1 scoreline.
The match between The Elephants and The Leopards is set to take place on Wednesday at 9 p.m. Moroccan time, at Alassane Ouattara Stadium, commonly known as the Olympic Stadium of Ebimpe.
Football fans can stream this clash live via beIN Sports, CRTV, Canal+, SuperSport, Sky Sports, and the SkyGo app.
BBC Sport and iPlayer will also broadcast the game for free on their respective portals.
Cote d’Ivoire‘s presence at the semi-finals comes as no surprise, as it has been nearly impossible to knock the hosts out of this tournament, despite a few close calls on multiple occasions.
The Elephants almost left the competition at an early stage following their shocking 4-0 defeat against Equatorial Guinea but have persevered and seem eager to continue their rollercoaster run all the way to the finals to face the winner between Nigeria and South Africa.
Fate and fortune look to be on their side and predicting website “The Standard” sees them as favorites to emerge victorious against The Leopards.
DR Congo played its second game of the competition against the AFCON favorites, Morocco, and managed to secure 1 point through a draw.
While Cote d’Ivoire suffered two defeats against both Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea at the group stage, they still managed to qualify to the next round following Morocco’s 1-0 win against Zambia.
So, against all odds, will Cote d’Ivoire have a repeat of 2015, and lift the AFCON cup on home soil?
