Rabat – Moroccan public and private institutions hosted students from Al Akhawayn University (AUI) as part of the third edition of the Rabat Networking Days (RND) event held on February 1-2.

Institutions such as the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, and the Youth Center welcomed participating students, while discussions revolved around the promotion of youth empowerment and inclusivity.

During the students’ visit to her ministry, Minister of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform Ghita Mezzour, highlighted the objective of positioning Morocco as a center for digital solutions while providing insights on ongoing initiatives, such as the digital transformation plan.

“I was pleased today to receive a group of @AlAkhawayn students, who visited the Ministry’s headquarters as part of the third edition of the ‘Rabat Networking Days’ program, which aims to create a bridge between the academic and the professional worlds,” Mezzour said on X, formerly Twitter. She added that the event aimed at introducing the mission of Morocco’s institutions.

“It also allows them to learn about the most important strategic projects taking place in our country under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI,” she added.

This particular initiative invited students to participate in creating a highly technological and affluent future for Morocco, therefore fostering a relationship between students and officials.

For his part, Fouad Qamouta, project coordinator at the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, commended the students’ keenness on the foundation’s work and mission in Morocco.

“It was an opportunity for them [students] to discover our world. The students were interested to know every detail we talked about on each project we are working on here in Morocco,” Qamouta told Morocco World News (MWN) in an interview.

Highlighting the foundation’s dedication to advancing democracy and aiding non-governmental organizations in Morocco, Qamouta provided an in-depth description of his own position and duties within the institution.

“There was a lot of interaction, a lot of questions. The group was excited to know every single detail about our mission,” he added.

Another of the several spots visited in Rabat is the 4C Morocco’s Climate Change Competence Center whose Director-General Rajae Chafil talked about the difficulties posed by climate change and the critical role that young professionals play.

In order to address global climate concerns, Chafil highlighted the necessity of cooperation between academic institutions and students.

The exchange within the center encouraged students to think about pursuing jobs that address climate change and incorporate climate issues into their future employment.

The first and second editions of the RND, which took place on December 1-2, 2023 then on January 12-13, 2024, saw students engage with a variety of Rabat-based groups and governmental institutions, exploring their history, goals, and significant projects.
