Rabat – Early Friday, National Security forces in Sidi Ifni intercepted an international operation involving drug smuggling and illegal immigration by sea, confiscating roughly 1,922 tons of hashish.

Authorities discovered a two-engine rubber boat on a beach about five kilometers from Sidi Ifni, bound for Tiznit.

The vessel carried seven people, gasoline containers, and fifty packages of the narcotic substance.

The arrested individuals now face a judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor.

Officials are looking to determine the scope of their involvement in a case tied to international drug trafficking and organized maritime migration.

The National Security statement also noted that the seizure reflects ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks that operate across borders and engage in various forms of transnational crime.

In recent months, Morocco has ramped up its efforts to confront transnational crime, particularly in drug trafficking and illegal migration.

Authorities have strengthened coastal surveillance, expanded patrols, and increased coordination between security agencies to prevent criminal networks from exploiting maritime routes.

These measures showcase the country’s determination to protect its borders and disrupt organized crime before it reaches inland communities.
