The Moroccan U17 national football team, the Atlas Cubs, have started a crucial training camp in Dakar, Senegal as they enter the final phase of preparation for the FIFA U-17 World Cup which will take place in Qatar from 3 to 27 November 2025.

Led by coach Nabil Baha, the young players are training in a closed camp from 6 to 13 October in the Senegalese capital. As part of this stage, Morocco will play two friendly matches against Senegal’s U17 team on Wednesday,  Oct. 9 and Saturday, Oct. 12.

These games will be a big test against the African U17 champions who are also qualified for the World Cup.

Before traveling to Dakar, the Moroccan U17 team had an intense series of friendlies in Spain where they won two games — 3–0 against Canada and 4–3 against Uzbekistan — and lost 1–4 to England. The games gave Baha the opportunity to fine-tune his tactics.

Morocco’s U17 qualified for the World Cup earlier this year through a great campaign in the CAF U17 Africa Cup of Nations where they beat Uganda (5–0) and Tanzania (3–0). At the World Cup, they will be in Group B with Japan, Portugal and New Caledonia.

Coach Baha stressed the importance of staying focused and intense during the final weeks of preparation.

With a generation of young players — many from the Mohammed VI Football Academy — the Atlas Cubs want to make a big impact on the global stage. The Dakar camp is their final rehearsal before heading to Qatar in early November.
