Rabat – Manchester United beat Liverpool 2–1 in a tense Premier League match at Anfield. Bryan Mbeumo gave United the lead in the 2nd minute with a low shot after an assist from Amad Diallo.

Liverpool dominated possession but struggled to create clear chances in the first half.

United stayed compact and relied on counters. Casemiro and Amad Diallo were both booked early in the second half as the game grew more physical.

Liverpool equalized in the 78th minute when Cody Gakpo tapped in after a defensive mistake. The home side pushed for a winner, but United stayed strong at the back.

In the 83rd minute, Harry Maguire scored the winning goal with a header after a cross from Fernandes. Liverpool tried to respond, but couldn’t break through. Mamardashvili made a key save late on to deny Bruno Fernandes. United held on through added time to seal the win.

Liverpool had 63% possession and more shots, but United were more efficient. The result lifts Manchester United to 9th place, while Liverpool misses a chance to close the gap with Arsenal at the top. It’s United’s first win at Anfield since 2016.

Liverpool lost four in a row in all competitions for the first time since November 2014.

Both teams had injury concerns before the match. Alisson was out for Liverpool, and United started with a rotated back line.

The win gives United a boost ahead of their next match against Brighton. Liverpool will look to bounce back when they face Brentford next weekend.
