Rabat — Morocco’s King Mohammed VI received a congratulatory message from UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan following the country’s U20 historic win of FIFA World Cup.

The Moroccan team claimed the title after defeating Argentina, which is the historic champion of the competition with 6 titles, with a 2-0 draw.

Al Nahyan took to his X to congratulate the King. “I congratulate my brother, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, and the brotherly Moroccan people on winning the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup,” he wrote.

On the Moroccan national team’s performance, the UAE president said that the victory is “a great sporting achievement,” noting that it is a source of pride and “adds to the record of Moroccan and Arab sporting achievements.”

Morocco’s Atlas Cubs made history for being the first Arab country to win the title and the second African country to bring it home after Ghana was the first in 2009.

Ouahbi’s team delivered a high-caliber performance during the tournament, impressing their counterparts even when they had to deal with tough teams in the group stage.

King Mohammed VI congratulated the Atlas Cubs for their historic achievement. The monarch said in a letter, “Just as you delighted and brought joy to passionate football fans, you have also filled us with happiness, along with the entire Moroccan people.”

They proved that youth players can deliver international stellar performance, taking home, not only the cup, but other awards.

Zabiri finished the competition as the top scorer with five goals, claiming the Golden Boot award.

Meanwhile, Othman Maamma won the Golden Ball as the best player of the U20 World Cup, while Zabiri also took home the Silver Ball as the tournament’s second-best player.

Fans took to the streets in big cities to celebrate the epic performance that culminated in the title’s winning and reaching the peak of world football.
