Rabat — King Mohammed VI of Morocco reportedly arrived in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday morning for a private visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), according to local sources.

Media reports indicated that the royal aircraft departed from Rabat-Sale Airport on Tuesday evening to land at Abu Dhabi International Airport early Wednesday morning.

Morocco and the UAE share strong fraternal ties and friendship, with the bilateral relationship between the two nations’ leaders serving as a model for cooperation and mutual support in the region.

The visit comes just weeks after the UAE reiterated its full support for Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as a final solution to the Western Sahara dispute at the UN General Assembly’s Fourth Committee in New York.

Speaking to the assembly, the Emirati representative said that his country “renews its total support to the brother Kingdom of Morocco in its sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara.”

The UAE’s “support for the autonomy initiative within the framework of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity,” he confirmed.

Speaking of Morocco’s Autonomy Plan, the diplomat said that it is in alignment with international law, the UN Charter, and resolutions adopted by both the UN Security Council and General Assembly.

The Emirate’s position reflects its consistent support for Morocco’s territorial integrity. The UAE says it has always reaffirmed its commitment to backing peaceful and diplomatic solutions that respect Morocco’s sovereignty over all its territories.

This ongoing support from the UAE reflects the close cooperation between the two nations and their shared commitment to promoting regional stability while respecting international law and fostering development and prosperity.

Morocco’s momentum for its territorial integrity over its southern provinces made a historic turn last Friday, October 31, with a UNSC vote in favor of Resolution 2797, which defines Morocco’s Autonomy Plan as the genuine and only solution towards the Western Sahara dispute.

The relationship between King Mohammed VI and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan continues to strengthen ties between the two countries, with both pursuing shared interests in economic development and regional security.

At the UN, the UAE representative also commended Morocco’s New Development Model for the southern provinces. The government launched this initiative to improve living conditions for residents in those regions and across the country.
