Rabat – UK-based aeronautics company Rockwood Composites announced on Tuesday that its 1950 square-meter factory in Morocco is now operational.
Located in the Nouaceur Midparc industrial acceleration zone, the facility is part of a new subsidiary of Rockwood Composites Ltd, dedicated to producing high-volume, low-cost parts for the aerospace industry, according to a report from Manufacturing and Engineering Magazine.
The factory’s staff includes mechanical and composites engineers, some of whom are receiving training at the company’s headquarters in the UK, the report explains.
Opening the new factory in Morocco is part of the company’s plan to boost its production capacity of compression and bladder molding by fourfold over the next five years.
Commenting on the news, Rockwood Composite’s Managing Director Mark Crouchen, said there is a “huge demand within the aerospace industry for low-cost light-weight composite components and structures, for example, aircraft interiors and eVTOL propellors plus many other complex high-volume parts.”
“Our Moroccan facility is on plan to produce product in volume, achieving huge efficiencies of scale,” he added.
He explained that Rockwood’s “UK capacity is focused largely on other industries, by being reactive we can shift our production focus to meet customer demands.”
